An evening with Ian Stannard, Ben Swift and Rod Ellingworth
Compered by Rob Hayles

For #RideForCharlie

Friday 24 November 2017, @ 7.15pm

An evening with two of Britain’s top cyclists, Ian Stannard (Team Sky) and Ben Swift (UAE Team Emirates) and Team Sky Coach and Performance Manager, Rod Ellingworth, compered by TV commentator and three-time Olympic medallist and double Track World Champion, Rob Hayles.

The event is raising money for #RideForCharlie, the trust set up by the parents of Hayfield cyclist Charlie Craig in his loving memory to help support young off-road cyclists.

Charlie Craig went to sleep in January and didn’t wake up. He was 15. Charlie loved his bike – riding, racing and touring. Charlie’s recent achievement was winning two rounds of the cyclo-cross national series and taking the title of the series champion.

Ian and Ben will talk about their careers – from their days on the British Cycling Academy to riding the Tour De France. Rod will give the coach’s perspective on getting the most from the riders. Friend of the Craig family, Rob Hayles, has a wealth of experience both as an ex pro-rider and now TV commentator. You’ll have the chance to ask them your questions getting professional-level advice and behind-the-scenes anecdotes from some of the top names in British cycling.

Charlie’s Dad Nick Craig says, “Charlie left his family and friends in a state of shock and an incredible hole in our hearts. It’s nearly a year since Charlie left us and we miss him more every day. It would have been his 16th birthday in November. The #ChatForCharlie evening will be a chance to celebrate his memory and hopefully inspire the next generation and raise funds for us to be able to support up-and-coming young riders.”

There will also be a raffle on the night. If you’d like to donate a prize, please contact Fred Salmon at the Bike Factory in Whaley Bridge / 07712 068 887.
